A New Shirt Concept Developed for LC-10 and LC-20

The importance of shirts acting as essential supporters to allow our signature models to be worn beautifully is something we have long acknowledged. Over the years, we have explored various approaches within the made-to-measure realm to realise this idea. After overcoming many challenges along the way, we are finally pleased to present the fruit of this endeavour.

Armhole
Both of our in-house suiting models feature small, high armholes—a design element that enhances drape around the chest and back while providing generous mobility through precise pattern drafting and tailoring techniques.
The result is an elegant silhouette extending from the chest downward.
However, this armhole design naturally places higher demands on the shirt worn underneath. Shirts with loose or oversized armholes tend to interfere with the jacket, distorting its silhouette around the chest and back and, in some cases, restricting the jacket’s range of motion altogether. For this reason, we paid the utmost attention to the size and shape of the armhole in our new shirt design.
Collar
Our LC models are constructed with a steep shoulder slope, or “nobori” that extends from the shoulder point toward the neck.
While this creates a strong and masculine shoulder line, it also imposes specific requirements on the shirt.
With a conventional shirt collar stand height (approximately 3.5 cm at the back and 2.5 cm at the front) the shirt and jacket collar tend to sit at the same level, resulting in a visually unbalanced pairing.
To resolve this, the new shirt model is designed with a collar height specifically calibrated to complement our signature jackets.
Yoke
Our new MTM shirts also feature a yoke that is more generous than standard norms. This allows ease to be positioned closer to the arm’s natural movement point, improving mobility while significantly reducing the visible outline of the shirt, which commonly shows through the back of the jacket.
Cuffs
For this shirt model, the cuffs are designed with a slightly taller height. As each shirt is made to measure, the wrist circumference is precisely adjusted to the wearer.
Together, these two elements create a refined and composed appearance at the hands beneath the jacket sleeves.
Options
While this system is designed specifically to support the LC models, we also offer a range of design options that allow the shirts to be worn across various occasions and styling needs.
The harmony between a jacket and a shirt is as fundamental as the choice of aperitif and digestif in Italian cuisine. This new made-to-measure shirt is a creation refined with such balance in mind. Among classic men’s garments, the shirt is worn closest to the skin, yet it remains the unsung hero, quietly supporting both silhouette and comfort. We sincerely hope this project will offer both our staff and valued clients an opportunity to reconsider, together,
the true importance of the shirt.
